I have said it before: I do love a good story. A story that speaks to me. A story that twists and turns. This story reminds me of Janet as she sews up a storm for the launch of our SKIP BE/TWEEN line and the heart thumpity-thump story of how she was inspired to be the creative entrepreneur who I am thrilled to be partnered with – just so we are clear, I did not take away any great sewing skills from Home Ec class and let’s not even talk about 4-H sewing club – running away with Charlie Brown hands waving in the air. But, you won’t be so judgemental when I introduce you to the story behind Haven Kids.
There may not be a German grandmother in the wings, but there was a high school sewing class that sent Angela on a journey that inspired her first kids clothing line called L’il Babes Apparel. But, as her creativity changed and grew, and with her desire to create something that represented a love of childhood, she designed a whole new line that is minimalistic and fashion-forward.
Angela always takes a slow fashion approach to design, creating pieces that are timeless, sustainable and ethically made…#yay! All of Haven Kids clothes are produced locally in British Columbia, Canada using the softest bamboo fabrics. Not only that, Angela makes every effort to also use eco-friendly supplies, such as 100% recycled clothing tags, packaging, and stationary to name a few.
